In quite an unexpected manner, India’s Laman Rawat made a stunning comeback to get the better of India’s snooker ace Pankaj Advani to enter the final of the World 6-Red championship. Rawat would be up against Pakistan’s Muhammad, who defeated Thet Min Lin of Myanmar 5-4 to reach there.

Advani had done really well to establish an early lead of 3-1 with alternate frame wins, but he soon saw his compatriot compiling a clearance break of 73 to level things again. In the process, Laxman secured the next two frames as well.

Though Advani was back to level points after winning the 8th frame on pink ball, the decider saw a fumbling Rawat obtaining early lead before seeing a slump but eventually recovering till the last black. The tight game was finally decided by a loose shot by Advani that gave Laxman an easy pot to win the match.

Rawat won 8-77, 40-2, 21-34, 24-28, 73 (73)-8, 47-14, 44-0, 27-39, 36-26, and would now be playing Muhammad of Pakistan.

The women’s final will see former Asian champion Amee Kamani going up against Nutcharat Wongharuthai of Thailand. Amee had beaten World champion Ng On Yee of Hong Kong 4-1 in the semis, while Nutcharat defeated current World junior champion Yulu Bai of China 4-3.
