Atletico de Kolkata have received a bad news as they prepare for the final against Kerala Blasters on Sunday.  On Saturday, the AIFF disciplinary committee has banned ATK's Spanish striker Juan Belencoso for two ISL games after hitting Mumbai's Leo Costa which started off a brawl after Atletico's 0-0 draw in the second-leg of the semifinal against Mumbai City FC

Belencoso, if retained, will miss ATK's opening game in the next season. He was also fined Rs 3 lakh, while Atletico were fined Rs 7 Lakhs for involving themselves in the brawl.

The statement from ISL read as follow: “All India Football Federation Disciplinary Committee has fined Atletico de Kolkata Rs 7,00,000 (Seven Lac INR) in two separate incidents of ‘team misconduct’ under the AIFF Disciplinary Code Article 53A and 53B during Hero ISL 2016 Match no 59 played between Mumbai City FC vs Atletico de Kolkata at Mumbai Football Arena, Mumbai on 13th December 2016.

“Additionally, AIFF Disciplinary Committee has found Atletico de Kolkata player jersey no.19 Juan Carlos Rodriquez Belencoso guilty of misconduct against opponents. Juan Belencoso has been suspended for 2 matches and fined Rs 3,00,000 (Three Lac INR) under Article 49 of AIFF Disciplinary Code.”

Brazil's Leo Costa clipped Belencoso just before the final minutes to which the Spaniard reacted by head-butting the Mumbai midfielder, which saw the players from both sides converge into a brawl. Several players got into separate arguments while Mumbai's Thiago Cunha tried to aim a kick at Belencoso, and security had to interfere to calm things down at the Mumbai Football Arena.
