West Ham United have been rocked by Dimitri Payet’s transfer request just 11 months after he signed a new contract with the Premier League club. West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic is ‘angry’ about the whole situation but has refused to budge under pressure from the French international.
This team, the staff, we gave him everything, we were always there for him. I feel let down. I feel angry.
In the last winter's transfer window, West Ham gave him a bumper new deal to ward off interests from China, just six months after the player had joined them. However, it seems like that contract might not be enough to tie him down with the Frenchman expressing his desire the leave.
"Let’s get serious. I have a situation with a player. It is Dimitri Payet. He wants to leave.
“We have said we don’t want to sell our best players but
“We aren’t going to sell him, not whatsoever. It’s not a money issue or anything. We want to keep our best players. I expect from him to come back and to show commitment and determination to the team like the team has shown to him,” Bilic said, reported the Guardian.
Losing Payet at this point of the season will be a big blow to Bilic’s men, as they are unlikely to find any suitable replacement. However, keeping an unhappy player at the club might not work out as well.
