Sergio Lobera has stated that the win over NorthEast United was a complete team performance and dedicated the win to the FC Goa fans. In one of the more lopsided contests of the season, FC Goa totally decimated the challenge from the NEUFC by a scoreline of 5-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

A total of six goals were scored in the second half of the match between FC Goa and Northeast United, as the former defeated the latter 5-1. Ferran Coromina scored twice for FC Goa in the 59th and 84 minutes of the match. At the half-time it did not look like NorthEast would lose in such a tame manner. The remaining three goals for Goa came from Edu Bedia( 69th minute), Hugo Boumous (71st minute) and Miguel Palanca in the injury time. FC Goa coach Sergio Lobera was delighted with the way his team performed, particularly in the second half of the match.

"It is a good result for the fans, the team and everybody working at the club. So, this win is dedicated to all of them. I thought it was a complete performance. This is the sort of performance we need to follow and this is the team that we need to be if we want to achieve important things this season," he declared.

The coach changed his tactics deploying Carlos Pena at the centre back position at the back end of the match. The ploy seemed to work as the opposition was stopped from scoring any goals and it was not easy for the Northeast United forwards to score against that ploy.

"We knew that Pena could play on the left and as a centre back. That’s the reason we signed him. Analysing the other team, we knew that because they had their foreign centre-back injured, they were going to play the other foreigner up front. Taking that into account, we played the way we did. We knew that it was going to be tough in the middle. I think it turned out well for us," he remarked.

Lobera also rued missing out on scoring opportunities in the first half of the game. He believed that his team could have easily reached the first half with a big difference.

"I think we should have reached half-time with a big difference in the scoreline. I think in the second half, we were completely superior to them in all aspects and the result was sort of a reflection of that," he opined.

On the other hand, Northeast United's coach was shocked to lose by such a margin. The coach of the side, Eelco Schattorie, was disappointed and stated that it was losing by such a margin is not good for a side mentally.

"Very deserved win. If you lose 5-1 you cannot say that you were better. I lost my centre back, I don’t have another option on the bench.  I expected that Goa would press us. We started a 4-4-2 simply because I wanted to play more long balls. After they scored the first goal, we broke down."

"From there, mentally it was a bad performance. You cannot lose 5-1 if you are the second-best defence in the league. I’m really disappointed with that part," he added.
