Premier League Round Up | Manchester United beat Burnley; Manchester City thrash Newcastle at home

In a hard-fought encounter, Manchester United managed to beat Burnley thanks to Anthony Martial who scored the only goal of the match in the second half. In another match, Sergio Aguero’s hat-trick helped Manchester City to defeat Newcastle United 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Burnley 0 - 1 Manchester United

United had 52% possession in the game but they failed to open their tally in the first half of the encounter. They also ensured that Burnley didn’t find any game and they managed it throughout the game as from Burnley’s side nobody managed to goal as Johann Berg Gudmundsson hit the crossbar with a free-kick and Ashley Barnes missed a header. Martial became the hero for United as he managed to give keeper the eyes to score his 11th goal of the season. His superb strike in the 54th minute of the game was enough to hand Jose Mourinho’s team a fourth win in a row in all competition. After this win, United find themselves in the second position with a 12-point margin from Manchester City.

Manchester City 3 - 1 Newcastle United

Playing at home, Aguero opened the goal tally, from the penalty spot, in the 34th minute of the game which gave his side the 1-0 lead going into the second half. The Argentina striker converted another penalty after Javier Manquillo tripped Raheem Sterling to give his side a 2-0 lead in 63rd minute. Just after four minutes, Newcastle managed a goal thanks to Jacob Murphy but the two-goal margin was restored as Aguero killed their hopes and finished the game on a high note by scoring his third goal. 

Brighton & Hove Albion 0 - 4 Chelsea

Eden Hazard early strike compounded by a brilliant buildup goal, finished off by Willian, ensured that Brighton found themselves 2-0 down with just six minutes on the clock. The hosts had two appeals for penalties waved off by the official as Chelsea entered the break with the same lead. After half-time, Brighton stepped up their efforts and Davy Propper even went as close as to hit the post. Hazard, however, completed his brace in the 77th minute and Victor Moses also joined the list by scoring in the 89th minutes. The 4-0 win helped the side move at the third position with 50 points in 24 games.
