Southampton remained in the bottom three after playing the second draw in a row as on Sunday the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur ended 1-1. With the help of braces from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, Barcelona thrashed Real Betis 5-0 in La Liga to maintain an 11 point lead at the top.

Southampton 1 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs failed to earn all three points against Southampton and also missed a chance to go level on points with Liverpool who are fourth on the points table. Southampton managed a good start and they seemed enough fortunate in the game as Spurs' defender Davinson Sanchez guided Ryan Bertrand’s low cross into his own net after 15 minutes. Southampton managed to hold on to the lead for just four minutes as Harry Kane’s header, which was his 99th Premier League goal, provide the equalizer. The game entered in the half-time with a 1-1 score and in the second half both teams seemed unable to score any goal.

Real Betis 0 - 5 Barcelona

Playing in an away game, Barcelona didn’t give a chance to Real Betis any real chance of getting anything from the game. After the first-half ended goal-less, the visitors showed a dominant performance in the second as Ivan Rakitic opened the goal scoring on the day in the 59th minute. Soon Messi doubled his team’s advantage before Suarez joined the party to make it 3-0 for the Catalans. Messi was in no mood to show any mercy to his opponent as he scored his 19th goal in 20 league games. It definitely inspired Suarez as he also completed his brace which helped him in scoring 100 La Liga goals in just 114 games.

Real Madrid 7 - 1 Deportivo La Coruna

It was a one-sided game for Real Madrid against Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. In the first 20 minutes, both teams failed to open their tally and surprisingly it was Deportivo took the lead for the first and last time in the game after Adrian scored in the 23rd minute. Nacho soon produced the equalizer before Gareth Bale’s two back to back goals on either side of half-time to give his side a 3-1 lead. Cristiano Ronaldo too got into the act and scored a brace before Nacho doubled his tally for the night. Luka Modric was the other goalscorer on the night for the Los Blancos. The win helped the side maintain their fourth place on the table - an incredible 19 points behind Barcelona with a game in hand.
