Ahead of their final league game of the Indian Super League against NorthEast United FC, ATK’s interim coach Ashley Westwood has stepped down from his role. The former Bengaluru FC coach has had a terrible run at the Kolkata franchise, losing six and drawing one off last seven matches.

Ahead of ATK's eleventh match in the 2017-18 Indian Super League season, a home game against Chennaiyin FC, the two-time champions had decided to sack head coach Teddy Sheringham following a string of poor results. The franchise decided to hand over the reins to the team’s then technical director, Ashley Westwood, electing as the 'interim head-coach' of the team.

The former Bengaluru FC boss was given the job of taking a massively side into the top four. But, he also failed terribly at his job and in the seven matches he was at the helm, the defending champions could not win a single game, losing lost six of them. After the woeful run of form, Westwood has now decided to resign from the role as ATK confirmed it in a press release.

“Ashley Westwood has decided to step down from the role of Interim Head Coach,” the statement said.

Although the 2016 champions have not declared the name of the new coach as a replacement for the Englishman, Bastab Roy, who was the assistant coach of the coach, is at the pole position to take care of the team in its final appearance of the season.

ATK has had a terrible season this year winning only three matches from the 17 matches they have played so far and are at the ninth position in the 10-team league.
