India U-16 team eased past Singapore's U-17 side to register a 3-1 victory in its second match of the Jockey Club International Youth Invitational Football Tournament in Hong Kong on Saturday (March 24). India play Hong Kong next in their last match of the tournament on Sunday.

It is a U-17 tourney where India is fielding their U-16 team as part of their preparation for the AFC U-16 finals, which is slated to be held in September. However, it didn't stop the side from defeating Singapore's U-17 side 3-1 in its second match of the tournament.

Goalkeeper Biaka was pressed into action early on as he made a save in theĀ second minute itself. But after that, it was all India as the boys pressed forward efficaciously. Givson's free-kick was stopped by the goalie while Sailo missed the target narrowly.Ā

The deadlock broke in the 24th minute when India took the lead, as midfielder Ricky John Shabong passed to Rohit Danu, who finished it off in style. A couple of minutes later, Danu scored again as he doubled Indiaā€™s lead. India were 2-0 up at half-time.Ā

Givson earned a free-kick early on after the break but his shot was once again kept out. Later on, substitute Harpreet came on and immediately found himself with a couple of chances, but couldnā€™t convert them into goals. Ridge Melvin added to Indiaā€™s tally in the 71st minute after rattling the crossbar a minute earlier. Singapore pulled one back from the spot in the 82nd minute as the match ended 3-1.

India face Hong Kong in their last match of the tournament on March 25.
