Indian Super League (ISL) club Jamshedpur FC have announced that defender Joyner Lourenco will be playing for them in the upcoming season of the football league. Lourenco, who was with another ISL side Mumbai City FC, has now signed a two-year contract with the club from Jharkhand.

Joyner, who played an impressive role for the Islanders in the fifth edition of the ISL, will now don the jersey of Jamshedpur FC from this year. He has inked a two-year deal with the Red Miners with the period starting from this year. Joyner had played 10 matches for the team coached by Jorge Costa last season.

Joyner has said that he is proud to join a club like JFC and had enjoyed the crowd at Jamshedpur’s home venue last season when he had played for Mumbai.

"It’s a great feeling because not every player has the opportunity to join a huge club like this. I am looking forward to meeting up with my new teammates and I am very proud to officially become a Jamshedpur FC player. I really enjoyed the crowd presence at the Furnace last season when I came with Mumbai City and I am looking forward to playing in front of the home fans. I hope we can make our fans extremely proud and happy. Jam ke khelo Jamshedpur, Joyner told the JFC website."

Jamshedpur CEO Mukul Choudhari highlighted the importance of signing a quality player for the next two years. The CEO has also said that Joyner has the experience of playing at club level and will be able to add strength to the team’s defence.

"We are pleased to be able to bring in a player of proven quality who adds to our defensive options. Joyner is experienced at club level and possesses all the requisite attributes to thrive. He will add a lot of strength to our defense along with Tiri and we hope that partnership thrives throughout the season. We have been aware of him for some time and we are confident he will fit in well with the squad," said Choudhari.
