Reports | Real Madrid still very keen on Paul Pogba

Transfer window for Premier League clubs closed this Thursday with Paul Pogba still at Old Trafford, but Real Madrid will not give up on exploring a possible deal for him. Manchester United did not manage to sign anyone on the last day of the transfer window, so Pogba's exit does seem unlikely.

The entire transfer window was filled with rumours linking Paul Pogba to Real Madrid, but the French international remained in Old Trafford. From Bruno Fernandes to Christian Eriksen, from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Philippe Coutinho, many players were talked to replace the 26-year-old, but no one came.

For that reason, and because the Red Devils cannot sign anyone since the transfer window shut yesterday, it seems unlikely that Pogba exits Old Trafford. However, according to L'Equipe, Zinedine Zidane hasn’t quit and is still looking to bring Paul Pogba to the Santiago Bernabéu. Because despite negotiations becoming difficult, Pogba continues to be the main target for Real Madrid's boss.

The English side have expressed their intention to retain Pogba, and Solskjaer wants the World Cup winner to be the main piece in his midfield trio alongside Nemanja Matic. But Real Madrid does have a chance to sign the French midfielder, as Pogba would not turn his back on the possibility to play for the Merengues.

That is especially since Zidane would fulfill the Frenchman’s desire and make him the cornerstone of the new Real Madrid. The transfer window for the La Liga closes on September 2nd, and despite the obvious difficulties, Real Madrid will try to land Pogba
