Velez Sarsfield midfielder Thiago Almada has emerged as a transfer target for Atlético Madrid after the Los Rojiblancos failed with an approach earlier this year. Thiago Almada is seen as one of the most exciting talents of Argentina's new generation and has a buy-out clause set at €16 million.

Atlético Madrid are keen on a move for Velez Sarsfield attacking midfielder Thiago Almada, having spoken to the Argentinan side several times over the last few months about the 18-year-old, according to Marca. With 21 appearances for the Velez first team already and 6 caps for Argentina's U-20 team, Almada has already made a name for himself.

The young midfielder is seen as one of the most exciting talents of Argentina's new generation and has already captured the attention of major European clubs. The 18-year-old was with Argentina U-20 that was crowned runner-up in the South American U-20 Championship earlier this summer, where his performances saw the hype around him increase even further, with people calling him the new Messi.

Besides the Los Rojiblancos however, it's been reported that Manchester City, Barcelona, Boca Juniors and Sporting CP have also approached Velez over a move for the attacking midfielder. The player's contract with Velez Sarsfield expires on June 2021 and while Argentinian side did offer him a new deal that raised Almada's release clause, the starlet refused the offer.
