Manchester United's out of favour defender Matteo Darmian is likely to leave the club before the European transfer window closes on 2nd September. The Italian fullback has struggled to get minutes in the first team in recent times, after joining the Old Trafford side in 2015 from Torino.

According to BBC, Manchester United have received an enquiry for Matteo Darmian from an unknown club. It is reported that the Italian wanted out of Old Trafford a year ago, but Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is finally willing to let the player go this year. The 29-year-old has only featured 13 times since December 2017 and prefers a move back to Serie A in Italy.

Darmian's fellow United defenders, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo, are also unaware of their future at Manchester United. Serie A giants AS Roma have expressed their interest in Smalling, and it's believed that a move will be concluded before the transfer window closes. Alongside Smalling and Darmian, Rojo has also not played in any of the club's first three Premier League matches, and but might feature sometime soon.

The club is eager to let the unused players out of the club and is focusing on it's youth players this season. As a result, former academy players Tahith Chong, Mason Greenwood, James Garner and Axel Tuanzebe have been integrated into the first team. Meanwhile, left back Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial suffered injuries during the loss to Crystal Palace and are not going to feature against Southampton this weekend.
