Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has decided to extend his stay at the Bundesliga champions, and the new contract will keep the Polish hitman at the club until 2023. This season, the 31-year-old has already opened his account by scoring five goals in two matches this season.

Robert Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich five years ago, after completing a move from fellow Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund. Since joining Bayern, the polish hitman has scored a staggering 197 goals in 246 games in all competitions for the club and has regularly been among the club’s top scorers every season.

After signing his contract extension, Lewandowski said, “Bayern has become my sporting home. I am proud to be a part of this club. Bayern are one of the three biggest clubs in the world and have a superb squad, I am convinced that we can achieve a lot in the coming year," he said reports BBC.

Lewandowski added. Currently, the Polish national team captain is the third all-top scorer for Bayern Munich, behind Bayern legends Gerd Muller (398 goals) and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (217 goals).  The Bayern Munich no. 9 is also Bundesliga's all-time best foreign scorer, after having amassed 207 league goals for the two clubs he has played in, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. He scored 22 goals in the league to claim his fourth top scorer’s prize last season.
