A mid-week clash did bring about a lot of action for FPL sides but with another gameweek starting less than a day later, FPL managers have to start preparing for December. It brings about a lot of rotation and that causes a few problems but these five men will not be moved, barring a major injury.

Jetro Willems

Yes, he is a Newcastle defender and yes this is a suggestion to pick the man. Not just because barring 7 goals this season, out of 15, the rest have all been scored by defenders. That’s more than half their total goal tally so far and Willems has a significant chunk of that to himself. With two goals and two assists in 12 games, he is one of Newcastle’s best players. That’s alongside Martin Dubravka and Jonjo Shelvey.

However, with 50 points in 11 full gameweeks and an average of 4.7 points a gameweek, he is the definition of a budget superstar. Only Ricardo Pereira, Ben Chilwell, Marcos Alonso and Lord Lundstram have a better average with Trent Alexander Arnold lower than Willems. And despite this being Newcastle United, the Dutch defender has done this against Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

Combine that with the fact that the Magpies next five games are good fixtures from an FPL standpoint, it makes him a must buy. Plus there is the fact that he’s worth only £4.6 right now, which makes him cheaper than Lucas Digne, Patrick van Aanholt, any Liverpool or Manchester City defender and James Tarkowski.

Danny Ings

Eight goals, four consecutive ones, and 76 points all put together at a decent £6.2 million price tag makes Danny Ings a must-have. Add that to the fact that he’s effectively become Southampton’s version of Jermain Defoe and that makes him a must-have striker. Barring injuries, which have been few and far so far this season, Ings is locked into Ralf Hasenhuttl and even anyone who replaces the Austrian’s team.

With only Shane Long, Che Adams and Michael Obafemi, the Saints do not have too many consistent options which further helps Ings’ case. Then there’s his xG of 6.18 which in reality tells us that he’s getting into much better positions than before and that Southampton are now creating more for the former Liverpool man.

Combine that with the club’s next three fixtures, which are against Newcastle United, West Ham and Aston Villa, and it makes the striker a must-have. Plus thanks to his fee, it does allow you to splurge the cash elsewhere and maybe even bring in a premium forward.

Jack Grealish

As Aston Villa’s captain and a superstar for the club, Jack Grealish is a nailed on FPL asset. He’s not going anywhere unless he gets injured and with the Englishman in the form of his life right now, that’s unlikely to happen. Even then, Grealish is a brilliant option and while Mason Mount will get plaudits for his performances, the Villa star needs to be in more teams.

His four goals and three assists are spread out across the 13 games he has played this season but no Villa player has more goal contributions than Grealish. Furthermore, his xG and xA are amongst the highest at the club. Only Wesley has a better xG than Grealish, although no one outdoes the number of chances he has created per game.

It’s a startling stat and the Englishman passes the eye test especially if and when manager Dean Smith opts to play him as a free-roaming left-winger. And the Lions’ fixtures are open to debate with only Leicester City and Manchester City as their biggest opponents between now till the end of January.

David McGoldrick

Lys Mousset may be the man on form but David McGoldrick (£5.4) is the man to have despite the fact that the older man has just one goal this season. But, if xG are to believed, then both men have had the same chances or rather similar chances to change that, so is it down to superior finishing from Mousset that has given him his five goals?? Maybe, but the 32-year-old McGoldrick is no slouch in front of goal.

He’s averaged around 8 goals a season for himself across his career and managed 15 goals last season in the Championship alongside superstriker Billy Sharp. Furthermore, his career best is a 16 goal haul for Coventry City, with 14 for Ipswich Town and 15 for the Blades. Combine that with the fact that he’s a good shooter, averaging 2.62 shots per game, and an xG of 4.40 it all points to the fact that something big is coming around the corner for the former Saints striker.

When? We may never know but a storm is definitely coming and it's better to walk around wearing a McGoldrick shaped raincoat.

Jonny Evans

A lot has been said about Jamie Vardy, James Maddison, Ben Chilwell, Ricardo Pereira and even Caglar Soyuncu but little has been spoken about Mr consistent Jonny Evans. The center-back has played every game for the club this season, much like most of the team, and his points return has been impressive with an average of 4.5. That’s not the worst total and it puts him level with Trent Alexander Arnold, Soyuncu, and places Evans higher than Martin Kelly and Lewis Dunk.

At £5.1, he is a little expensive but the fixture list more than anything favours the former Manchester United man and under Brendan Rodgers he’s unleashed a new wave of form. His partnership with Soyuncu has been near impenetrable and has given the Foxes the best defense in the country which means that they will have nothing but clean-sheets.

That is till Manchester City and then Liverpool, in two consecutive game-weeks play against them but even that situation is two gameweeks away.
