Bengaluru FC coach Carles Cuadrat has stated that NorthEast played very well and he was very happy to get four points out of the six possible in the two matches against the NorthEast United. Bengaluru managed to defeat the NorthEast United 2-1 in a tough encounter yesterday.

Bengaluru FC managed full three points against the North East United as they won the match against their opponent on their second meeting. It all started when an own goal from Mislav Kimorski gave the much-needed lead to Bengaluru in the fourteenth minute of the match. Thereafter, though Federico Gallego equalized for the North East in the sixtieth minute they could not hold on to that score for long as a 71st-minute goal from Chencho Gyelsten won the Bengaluru based club the match.

"As we get close to the playoffs, all the teams are trying to build the momentum to get the points. Every game is going to be more intense, more competitive. I have to say that the NorthEast are a wonderful team. It’s a really wonderful team. They play very good football. So, we have to very happy to get four points from six against them," Carles Cuadrat told on ISL official website.

The Bengaluru side is currently the topping table with a total of 30 points from 13 matches. Cuadrat seemed pretty pleased with the way his team has been executing the plans and said that they scored two goals from set-pieces which has been their strong point.

"Yes, we have scored two goals from set-pieces. We work a lot in that. So, it’s one of our strong points. We defended 14 corners and conceded from none. And during the season, we are not letting in any goal from corner or free-kick. I’m very disappointed with the goal we conceded because it was from a throw-in. But on corner and free-kicks, we work a lot," Cuadrat remarked.

On the other hand, NorthEast coach Eelco Schattorie seemed devasted and felt that his team was undone by one man - the opposition goalkeeper. And he praised Gurpreet Singh Sandhu for his performance in the match saying that the latter saved many balls for his team. Schoattori also rued that they got many chances but could not convert as many as they would have liked.

"To be honest, I don’t know where to begin. If the goalkeeper is the man of the match, that means he saved a lot of balls. I will never be able to blame anybody for missing a chance. There was only one team here and that was us. I think Bengaluru had only one shot on goal. If you compare their team to our team, we outplayed them. We got so many chances. The goalkeeper was the man of the match," he said.

Though the North East based club sits on the third position on the points table, they would like to gain a few points in their next few matches to find the momentum going into the knockouts. Schattorie stated that the team can be proud of their performance and added that the only negative in the match for them came from an injury to Mislav Komorski.

"For us, it is a painful loss, especially because we could have won. But again, we played against the best club in the country. I think we can be proud. Now we have to get everybody together. A big negative of the game is that I lost my left centre-back (Mislav Komorski) due to an injury. Hopefully, he will be fine."
