Shibin Raj has been unveiled as the latest addition to the Kerala Blasters FC squad ahead of the 2019 ISL season joining from I-League based - Gokulam Kerala FC. The 26-year old captained Gokulam in the early stages of last season and made 11 I-league appearances for the Kerala-based franchise.

Kerala Blasters are undergoing a massive change within the management and senior squad ever since the appointment of former NorthEast United FC coach - Eelco Schattorie. The Kerala-based franchise have made 26-year old goalkeeper Shibin Raj their latest signing ahead of the start of the 2019 ISL season. The Kozhikode-born footballer made a total of 11 I-league appearances for Gokulam in the last season and also captained them during the initial rounds of the league.

"Being a Keralite, it is an amazing feeling to be part of Kerala Blasters. However, this is only the beginning. I'm sure the level of competition in the team is high and I promise to give in my best to better my skills and thereby bring forth success to the team. Looking forward to a wonderful season ahead," Shibin was quoted as saying by the club’s official site.

The Keralite began his professional career with the Indian Air Force in 2011 and he was part of the Santosh Trophy squad which lifted the title in 2011. Raj later joined Mohun Bagan in 2016 and two years later he returned to Kerala to represent Gokulam Kerala FC in the I-League.

"Shibin is a talented young Keeper with great physical attributes. We hope to give him a platform to further develop and excel under experienced coaches. I'm very happy to have him as part of the team," said Blasters head coach Eelco Schattorie.
