Very happy and excited to start 2019 season, says East Bengal assistant coach
East Bengal assistant coach Josep Ferre revealed that he couldnāt be more happy and excited to begin the 2019 season as they began training at the Salt Lake Stadium practice ground. Meanwhile, fresh recruit Boithang Haokip revealed that he wants to do something great for the club this year.
Since 2017-18 season, the winners of the I-League have been getting a slot in the AFC Cup play-offs. The champions of the I-League get a slot in the qualifiers of the AFC Champions League and an automatic slot in the AFC Cup in case they lose their qualifying game.
It remains to be seen if Mohun Bagan and East Bengal eventually decide to join the ISL but East Bengal assistant coach Josep Ferre said that he is excited to begin the 2019 training at the Salt Lake practice ground on Wednesday.
āIt is really nice, I am very excited to see all the fans coming here and giving us this warm welcome to all of us. Very happy and excited to start the season. Alejandro is a top coach. He has very good knowledge and understanding of the game. He has a full direction of everything during the game. For me it is a privilege to work with him again,ā the assistant coach was quoted as saying by Goal.com.
New recruit Boithang Haokip, who joined the club this season from Bengaluru FC, said that wants to do something for his new club over the course of the coming year.
āIt is great to be here, the weather is a bit hot but I am trying to adjust to the conditions as soon as possible. It was my dream to come here in Kolkata and play for East Bengal. I want to do something for the club and for myself this season,ā Haokip added.
