As per recent reports, Guwahati and Kolkata are the two prime locations to host India’s World Cup qualifying matches against Oman and Bangladesh respectively. The Blue Tigers led by Sunil Chhetri have been placed in Group E along with Asian champions Qatar, Oman, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

The Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati and the Saltlake Stadium in Kolkata have been chosen as the two venues for India’s crucial FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Oman and Bangladesh as per reports from Goal.com. As per the draw held at the AFC headquarters Kuala Lumpur on July 17, India have been placed in Group E along with current AFC Asian Champions Qatar, Oman, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

Newly-appointed India coach Igor Stimac's men will start their campaign against Oman on September 5 at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati. India, who last played out a 0-0 draw against Oman in 2018, have drawn twice and have lost on four other instances against their Asian opponents.

After facing a tricky away trip to 2019 AFC Asian Cup winners Qatar, India will look to make the most of home advantage when they go up against neighbors Bangladesh in Kolkata. After a gap of many years, the senior India national team will once again set foot at the Saltlake Stadium. India last played in Kolkata on November 16, 2011 in a friendly match against Malaysia when the Blue Tigers won 3-2.
