India coach Igor Stimac revealed that he will be trying out new combinations with the Indian football team as they get ready to play in the upcoming King’s Cup in Thailand. Stimac added that a collective effort is required by the entire Indian public to boost the growth of football in the country.

Newly-appointed Indian football coach Igor Stimac has quickly established in Indian football and looks to have settled in nicely as the new chief of the national team. On Thursday, Stimac released another batch of six players, which included three players, who were part of the AFC Asian Cup squad, from the ongoing national camp.

Narayan Das, Salam Ranjan Singh, Dhanpal Ganesh, Rowllin Borges, Komal Thatal and an injured Anwar Ali (Jr) were released from the camp to prepare for the King's Cup which will be played in Thailand from June 5. Stimac added that he will be experimenting with the national team in the upcoming tournament and will try out some new formations in Thailand.

“At the moment, it’s off-season, and we are introducing our way of work to the players, and improving on their fitness capacities.

“We are going to use the King’s Cup to try a few different things, and as many players as possible. At this stage the result is not our priority, but at the same time, we are certainly going there to win matches,” Stimac said as per PTI sources.

The 51-year old former defender, who is considered to be a Derby County legend, opined that India must work together as a country in order to be recognised as a super-power in Asian football.

“The football family including the fans, mass media, all clubs, marketing sponsors, and AIFF need to work together to make India a recognised force in Asian football again.

“We have the obligation to work in favour of national football in India. Everyone is equally responsible to do everything possible in its development and securing its better future. Football is a team work, both on and off the field,” Stimac added.
