ISL 2019 | NorthEast United FC rope in Wayne Vaz from Pune City FC

NorthEast United FC have signed up defender Wayne Vaz from Pune City FC ahead of the upcoming Indian Super League season after the youngster impressed in the I-League. The defender played in the Indian second tier league for the last two seasons with Goa-based Churchill Brothers.

Wayne Vaz’s loan spell with Churchill Brothers and Chennai City FC came to an end recently and the former Pune City FC player will embark on a new journey with a new franchise in the ISL. The defender from Mumbai has been roped in by the NorthEast United FC outfit ahead of the start of the 2019 ISL season.

The youngster impressed during his recent loan spell with Churchill Brothers where he made 10 appearances and scored one goal during the 2018-19 I-League season. The Highlanders will hope that Vaz can help them improve from their recent fourth-place finish in Indian top tier league.

Meanwhile, the Pune-based outfit is set youngsters like Abhishek Halder, Mohammed Yasir, Jakob Vanlalhlimpuia, and Rohit Kumar might be given more prominent roles. The northern outfit is also set to lose 35-year old former PSG and Nigerian striker Bartholomew Ogbeche who was ISL's second highest goal-scorer in the last edition for NEUFC.
