In one of the most one-sided semi-finals ever, the Indian Women’s League saw Sethu FC beat SSB Women FC 8-1 to advance into the final where they will be facing Manipur Police. Dangmei Grace and Sabitra Bhandari scored hat-tricks for Sethu FC, while Dular Marandi scored one for the losing side.

It was one of the most clinical performances seen in Indian football that the Tamil Nadu-based club produced at the Guru Nanak Stadium, in Ludhiana, on Monday. And this happened despite SSB starting on quite a positive note and having a decent amount of possession on Sethu’s defensive third, creating plenty of chances.

And it was from one of the closely missed chances that Sethu went on the counter with Grace putting her side on the lead in the 13th minute. Grace created the ball for the second goal as her low cross from the right saw Bhandari making no mistakes in the 42nd minute.

Grace went on to add the third on the stroke of half-time taking the outcome beyond doubt with an entire half to go. It was an easy task for Sethu in the second half as they only had to catch SSB on the counter and they did that magnificently. Grace scored just as the half started in the 53rd minute, while Bhandari added a brace in the 61st and 65th minute.

SSB had already lost the match and Marandi’s 70th-minute goal was a mere consolation. And as if that was not enough humiliation, Ratanbala Devi scored another one just after Marandi’s goal to restore the six-goal cushion for her side. Finally, Bhandari’s goal in the 90th minute was the icing on the cake.

With this, Bhandari has scored 13 goals in six matches although it was Grace who won the Player of the Match Award.
