Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster has been heavily linked with a loan move to various Premier League clubs and Crystal Palace are said to be the most interested party. However, Roy Hodgson has admitted that he cannot guarantee Brewster a starting spot in the lineup if the player arrives on loan.

Crystal Palace are one of the clubs interested in signing Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster on loan in the upcoming January transfer window. The highly-rated youngster has found it difficult to find playing time at Merseyside due to the presence of greats like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. A loan move would present a big opportunity for Brewster to play adequate games, learn and impress Jurgen Klopp of his abilities, but Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has admitted that he won’t be able to guarantee the talented 19-year-old a starting spot in the Palace lineup.

“He's a good player, there's no doubt about that. The only thing that would concern me there is that I don't know quite how many guaranteed games [he would get]. "If I was going to speak to Jurgen and he was going to talk to me about, 'I want Rhian Brewster to go out on loan and play some matches.' I'm not 100 per cent certain I could guarantee him that he would be the first name on the team sheet,” said Hodgson to the Goal.

“So I'm not 100% certain that that will do anything other than be useful for us in terms of having another player who could come in from time to time and certainly help us out. But if I was Jurgen Klopp and Rhian Brewster, I think I'd want to be going somewhere where I was the first name on the team sheet, and I could guarantee that between January and May I'd be playing 20 matches.”

While playing down talk of a swoop for Brewster, Hodgson admits that he is in the process of identifying winter transfer targets. The Eagles are 13th in the Premier League and are struggling as they have failed to win a single game in their last 5 matches. The former England manager is aiming to sign reinforcements that can help Palace achieve a respectable finish in the table. Hodgson’s team travel to Burnley on Saturday in the Premier League with a hope to turn the tables around.
