Manchester United legend and Wales manager Ryan Giggs believes that his team need to improve their performances if they are to stand a chance to beat 2018 FIFA Worldcup finalists Croatia. Wales are set to take on Croatia on Monday as they hope to win after their disappointing draw against Slovakia.

Wales manager Ryan Giggs has said that the team needs to improve and build upon their performance in Slovakia to beat Croatia in Cardiff. Giggs went on to admit that Wales "took a step forward" in their 1-1 draw in Trnava but fears that these efforts won't be enough against the Croatians and the team will need more if they are to win against them. A win for Wales would see them move into a strong position in Group E, but they would not be out of contention even if they were to lose against Croatia.

“We will have to play better than the other night. We need full concentration against a very talented team, one of the best teams in the world. I would say Croatia are favourites. They are the favourites purely because of the players that they have got,” Giggs said to BBC.

Even with a defeat, Wales will qualify if they win their final two games - in Azerbaijan and at home to Hungary. Wales sit 4th in the table with 7 points whereas Croatia are comfortably on the top with 13 points in 6 games. The former Manchester United player also requested the home supporters to turn up in huge numbers as Wales' home record gives them a boost against a "special team" in Croatia on Sunday.

“What Croatia have done in recent times has been amazing. We need to be at our best against a special team with special players. I think against most countries they would be favourites. But we are at home and have a good record in Cardiff," concluded Giggs.
