Arsenal lead the race to sign Villareal defender Pau Torres despite interest from Manchester City and Chelsea. Pau Torres has had an exceptional start to the season which has seen Premier League clubs scout him and to ward off the interest Villareal has handed him a new 5-year deal.

Arsenal are favourites to sign Villareal centre-back Pau Torres who has emerged as one of the findings of the season after impressive performances for the La Liga Club. 90min report that Apart from Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are also keen on the central defender and might launch offers in the January transfer window. Unai Emery has been left amazed by Pau Torres’ development and rise and is ready to splash the cash in the summer to sign him.

Manchester City are also in search of defensive options as their depth has been badly exposed thanks to injuries to John Stones and Aymeric Laporte forcing Fernandinho to play as a centre-back. The 22-year-old defender could suit Pep Guardiola’s style of play as he is a smart defender but is also comfortable with the ball.

Torres has only just started to make a serious name for himself in European football, but the 22-year-old was a standout player on loan at Málaga last season and is now considered as one of Spain's most exciting defensive talents.
