Mohun Bagan slotted home two goals to defeat the defending champions TC Sports Club from the Maldives 2-0 at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong in the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup on Wednesday. Chennai City FC lost to Terengganu FC 3-5, while Gokulam Kerala FC beat Basundhara Kings 3-1.

Mohun Bagan slotted home two goals to defeat Dhivehi Premier League 2018 champions TC Sports Club from the Maldives 2-0 at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on Wednesday. After suffering a shock 2-1 defeat to Young Elephant FC from Laos, victory against TC will get their campaign back on track in the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup.

On Tuesday, I-League 2018-19 champions Chennai City FC were defeated by Malaysia's Terengganu FC 3-5 in their opener while Gokulam Kerala FC opened their Group B campaign with a stunning 3-1 victory over Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings.

Mohan Bagan started the game on the front foot and it took them just four minutes to get themselves on the scoresheet through a toe-poke finish by Daniel Cyrus. Gurjinder Singh’s cross towards the far post was controlled by Morante, who drew the defender towards himself and then passed it to the onrushing Cyrus, who poked it home.

In the 20th minute, Mohun Bagan hit the woodwork before Akram Ghani of TC Sports Club managed to clear the ball to help his team survive. Just six minutes later, Colinas’ brilliant header brought out a diving save from the TC goalkeeper, who was a busy man throughout the game. Bagan went into the half with a goal’s lead and the second half pretty much of the same to offer.

In the 60th minute, Mohun Bagan once again came extremely close to scoring with Salvador Perez Martinez’s brilliant shot but it hit the bar. However, it was Martinez who struck home Mohun Bagan’s second goal just four minutes after he hit the bar. Martinez collected Colinas’ ball in the centre and turned around, dropped his shoulder and took the shot, that hit the inside of the post and went in.

For Gokulam Kerala FC, forward Henry Kisseka and midfielder Nathaniel Garcia struck in the first half before the Kisseka added another at the start of the second period to establish a formidable lead. A consolation goal in the 74th minute by Bashundara Kings reduced the deficit to two.

Reigning I-League champions Chennai City FC came back from a goal down against Terengganu FC with intent to take the lead in the 33rd minute after goals from Katsumi Yusa and Mashoor Sheriff. However, Bruno Junichi Castenheira pulled off a dream scenario and struck four goals between the 38th and 80th minute to establish a 5-2 scoreline in favour of the Malaysian side. Pedro Manzi scored late for the I-League side but it wasn't enough to revive another come back.
