Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng is close to joining Juventus, as the Italian champions continue to show strong interest in the German centre back. With the arrivals of Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard, Boateng is looking at an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena and wants to move on.

German newspaper BILD reports that Juventus are on the verge of completing a deal for Jerome Boateng from Bayern Munich, who is not expected to feature for the serial Bundesliga winners this season. It was also reported that the veteran centre back missed his training session with the rest of his Bayern teammates, and was also absent for the annual team photo shoot.

The Bianconeri are looking at the 31 year as a replacement for club captain Giorgio Chiellini, who injured his anterior cruciate ligament during a training session and looks set to spend the entire season on the sidelines. Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac has played Niklas Sule and Lucas Hernandez as his first choice centre back pairing so far, with Boateng yet to play.

A move to Turin will suit Boateng's style of play and will be ideal for him at this point in his career as he will get a decent amount of game time in the Serie A, with Giorgio Chiellini sidelined with an ACL injury. That will see the Italian center-back miss atleast six months of action, if not more and it does give new manager Maurizio Sarri a selection headache.
