Chelsea are considering a move for Valencia left-back Jose Gaya next summer, with a two window transfer ban stopping them from making the move in January. The 24-year-old Spaniard is considered to be one of Valencia’s best players and that does make any move for him that much tougher.

The Blues were given a two-window transfer ban in February after breaking transfer rules in relation to signing underage players. While they did try and appeal to have the ban reduced or removed, both their appeals failed, leaving new manager Frank Lampard without a chance to reinforce his side before the summer window ended. He will have his hands tied in January as well, but with the FA handing Chelsea only a two-window ban, the summer of 2020 will be their chance to spend.

Reports have already indicated that the club have created a massive war-chest to help them get back on their feet, with TalkSport reporting that Chelsea's top target is Valencia star Jose Gaya. The 24-year-old left-back has had a renaissance of sorts last season, with him making 49 appearances in all competitions, making himself an undroppable first-team star. It saw Gaya rewarded with a five-year contract which includes a €100m release clause and that does make complicate things for the Blues.

However, Chelsea have only Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso as their first team options, with reports indicating that it’s one of the reasons why the Blues are looking for more reliable options. Emerson has started this season as Frank Lampard's first choice, while Alonso has struggled to make any appearances so far, with him not being included under Lampard so far.
