Manchester United’s chance to sell Paul Pogba fell apart despite the Red Devils and Paris Saint Germain coming to an agreement over a move. The Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, but the Los Blancos could not afford a move for Pogba after a summer of heavy spending.

Italian news outlet Calciomercato has reported that Manchester United’s chance to sell Paul Pogba fell apart during the summer window after Neymar opted to stay at Paris Saint-Germain. The 27-year-old Brazilian was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona but the Catalan giants could not afford PSG’s valuation of their former superstar, which saw them eventually step out of the race. That lead to Neymar opting to stay in France and Calciomercato has reported that it put an end to a move for Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman, like Neymar, was also heavily linked with a move away, albeit to Real Madrid and even Juventus. While PSG were considered to be suitors, Pogba’s likely destination was never France but Calciomercato reports otherwise. It reveals that Manchester United and PSG had come to an agreement over a move for the 26-year-old midfielder, although no transfer fee was revealed. But it does report that Pogba was rumoured to earn close to £430,000-a-week if he did sign for the French giants.

This reported move came just after Red Devils’ boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that he was more than happy to sell his superstar and use the money to refresh the squad. While the move never did happen, reports do indicate that Real Madrid and maybe even Barcelona are considering a January move for the former Juventus star.
