David De Gea has signed a new four-year deal with Manchester United, putting an end to any speculation about his future. The Spaniard had just one year left on his current contract with the Red Devils which would have allowed him to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January.

The Manchester United number one, who was out of contract at the end of the season has signed a new deal with the club according to reports in the Mirror. The report went on to add that the 28-year-old, who was heavily linked with a move to Juventus and PSG, will sign a four-year deal with the club set to confirm it later next week. Mirror further goes on to add, that the Spaniard would rather stay at Old Trafford than make the move to join another club in the near future.

This does effectively put an end to any transfer speculation and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted that negotiations with De Gea were in the final stages in his pre-match press conference, adding that he did not know exactly why it wasn't announced yet.

"I think you need to ask David and the club (why the deal had not been sorted yet). I've obviously not been involved in all the discussions, but I'm very - or pretty - confident that we'll get this sorted. David's never, ever said anything else to me than he loves this club, he wants to stay here and he's had a fantastic time, so let's hope we just get it over the line," said Solskjaer to Sky Sports.

The deal, if true, does see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fulfil an obligation reportedly written out in his contract. The Norwegian was tasked with keeping Manchester United’s best and brightest at the club, while at the same time getting rid of all the players he didn't believe fit the club's vision for the future. He’s done just that, by letting go of Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling and Alexis Sanchez among others, but he has also managed to get a few stars to sign new deals.

Reports reveal that Solskjaer has played a key role in getting Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Phil Jones, and a few others to sign new deals.
