With the first round of the exhausting Champions League and Europa League group stages now over, the managers are done with their pre-match Premier League press conferences. There is a lot to talk about and it should be a cracking gameweek, so here is everything they had to say ahead of the weekend.

Tottenham

Tottenham walk into the Premier League having broken their winless streak against Crystal Palace, but the North Londoners still have a lot to do. Their midweek collapse against Olympiacos had a lot of people talking, which simply added to Mauricio Pochettino’s problems. The Argentine addressed that, Leicester City’s chances of breaking into the top six and more in his pre-match press conference.

“We are in the same position. Tottenham and Leicester share the same position in the table, we have eight points. We will see, it’s too early to talk about contenders and what will happen in the future. Still all the teams are finding their best. We only play five games in PL. Until you play between 10 and 15 games, it’s difficult to see what will happen and the real contenders, teams who are going to be serious contender. It is still so early.”

Liverpool

Liverpool still have their winning run in the Premier League intact but that 2-0 loss to Napoli during the mid-week fixture will hurt them. They’ll have a lot to do to make up for that and playing a big six side like Chelsea, does make their job even tougher. Jurgen Klopp addressed that, Liverpool’s clean sheet issues and more in his pre-match press conference.

Klopp on possible Van Dijk injury: "Does it keep me awake? Not yet. It is the reason we have 4 centre-halves. It is not easy for the 'in the moment' No.4 to play. Of course can happen but cannot think about them before they happen. We all need luck to be successful. That’s a reason we have four centre-halves. You can’t think about injury before you have it. We need luck to be really successful - injury wise first and foremost but from my point of view we have four world-class centre-halves who can play together”

Manchester United

A simple 1-0 win over FC Astana helped Manchester United to their first points in the Europa League group stage, with the youngsters getting a chance to stretch their legs. Their Premier League chance will have to wait, with the Red Devils playing yet another testing fixture away against West Ham. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer addressed the same, their lack of away wins and more in his pre-match press conference.

"Why should we coaches be concerned? We're looking forward to things, looking for solutions. I've never been concerned about anything really. I don't walk around and worry about things. I'm looking at what we can do to improve. I've never been a worrier. I think we should've won at Southampton, I think we should've won the Wolverhampton one. Both should be wins. It's still the same size pitch, green with white lines, some fans. You've got to block out the mental part and play as you would in the park."
