After a hard-fought 1-0 win over Sheffield United, Liverpool star Andrew Robertson has admitted that the fans cannot expect them to dominate every single game. The Reds were made to fight for their lone goal against the Blades, with both sides fighting tooth and nail to try and get the win.

Another day and another win for Liverpool, but Sheffield United proved to give them the fight that Liverpool craved. The Blades refused to budge, playing a low block that yet again worked quietly brilliantly until it didn’t, with the Reds fighting tooth and nail to try and make their mark on the game.

That did eventually happen, with a Georginio Wijnaldum strike passing through goalkeeper Dean Henderson’s hands to give Liverpool their lone goal. It wasn’t the greatest goal that the Reds have ever scored but as Andy Robertson said in an interview with Liverpoolfc.com, they will take every goal they get.

“Look, you can't win 4-0, 5-0 every single week by playing beautiful football and everyone claps you off the park because they've been given a show. That's a different show out there – we had to get down, we had to get dirty and we had to match their battles," Robertson told Liverpoolfc.com.

“They're a very honest team and they showed that today. They're a very good team at it and they know their strengths, I think they'll do well this season. This won't be an easy place to come for people and it's so important then that you match their work ethic, which we did, match their commitment, which we did, and we won our 50-50s."

Neither side were at their best although Sheffield United was complacent and missed chances that they should have taken, which could have made all the difference. Liverpool, who dominated the ball, also were not at their best and often struggled to string passes together, the club reeling from a heavy workload.

“We lacked a wee bit of quality, which if we had more of I think we would have won a bit more comfortably. It was difficult. We weren't at our best, that's safe to say. When you're not at your best and the other team are putting you under pressure then it's important to get the win. Luckily we managed that, clean sheet – which we're happy about – and a fortunate goal, but you have to take them up.

"It's so important to come to these places and keep a clean sheet because the worst-case scenario is you draw 0-0. Yeah, it might not be ideal, but then you take it and you move on,” concluded the Scottish full-back.
