Jyoti Gupta’s body was found on a railway track at the Rewari Railway Station on Wednesday night and the police are suspecting a case of suicide, though Gupta’s family refuses to accept the same. The 20-year-old had represented India in the Asian Games and also featured in many national events.

Gupta was a resident of Sonepat district. Her body was found from the tracks by locals, who informed the cops. Her coach informed that she was to leave for Bengaluru for a training camp next week.

Meanwhile, the police said Jyoti had left home on Wednesday telling her parents that she was going to the Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, to get the spelling of her name corrected on her certificate. Her family also confirmed this news and said that she had called them in the evening and told them that her bus has broken down. She added that she will reach home soon.

However, after this, she reportedly stopped answering their calls.

Later that night, the police found Gupta’s body at Rewari Railway Station along with her mobile phone that was ringing. The cops answered the call and spoke to her parents and could, therefore, identify her.

Moreover, the accident was confirmed by the driver of the Jaipur bound train who said that Gupta died after she came in front of his train. However, Jyoti’s family refuses to believe that she could commit suicide. Rewari GRP SHO said no case has been registered and the body has been handed over to the family.
