The Indian women’s hockey team has fallen one place and are currently at the 10th position in the latest FIH Rankings. On the other hand, the men are unchanged at the fifth place after winning the FIH Series Finals and booking a place in the FIH Olympic Qualifiers to be held later this year.

Despite winning the FIH Women’s Series Finals in Hiroshima, the Indian women have fallen a place in the recently-released FIH Rankings. India is currently ranked 10th and the ninth place is now occupied by Belgium after they finished fifth in the FIH Pro League. Belgium are just a couple of points ahead of the Indians with 1445. The Netherlands are at the top of the table with a total of 2578 points. Australia and Argentina are placed at the second and third place respectively.

Among the Men’s teams, India is still at the fifth position. The Manpreet Singh-led side, like the women, had won the FIH Series Finals in Bhubaneswar and made it to the FIH Olympic Qualifiers. Belgium, with 2246 points, are at the top of the table among the men while Australia are at the second place with a total of 2231 points.

The Netherlands and Argentina are the other two teams ahead of India on the Rankings table. These rankings will matter for the upcoming FIH Olympic Qualifiers which will be the final event for the teams, barring the continental champions, to book a place in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
