Sultan of Johor Cup | All members are excited and we are raring to go, says Mandeep Mor

The Indian Junior Men's hockey team captain Mandeep Mor has stated that all the members of the team are excited about playing at the ninth Sultan of Johor Cup in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The Indian team will face-off against hosts Malaysia in their first match of the tournament on October 12, 2019.

The Indian Junior Men's Hockey Team took off from Bengaluru airport on late Monday night to arrive in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, for the 9th Sultan of Johor Cup which will be held from October 12, 2019 to October 19. Indian Junior Men's Hockey Team Captain Mandeep Mor has expressed his excitement ahead of the tournament.

"All the members of the Indian side are very excited for the 9th Sultan of Johor Cup,” Mandeep Mor said to Hockey India.

The Indian team is scheduled to play against Malaysia, New Zealand, Japan, Australia, and Great Britain in the round-robin league-stage of the tournament. Mandeep looks forward to putting into effect everything the team has practiced. The top two teams at the end of the round-robin matches will face each other in the final and the remaining four teams will play classification matches on October 19. Mandeep is happy with his squad and hopes the team will work according to the plan for every match.  

“We have trained very hard at the Sports Authority of India and we are looking forward to applying our learnings in the competition, especially against top sides such as Australia and Great Britain.”

“We have a well-balanced side and all players are raring to go. This tournament is a fantastic opportunity for us and we have to ensure that we execute our plans properly in all matches," concluded the 20-year-old Indian skipper.
