Maninder Singh and Jang Kun Lee showcased their charismatic raiding abilities to help Bengal Warriors brush aside UP Yoddha 40-20 in a completely one-sided encounter. The win meant the Warriors secured their second consecutive win whereas UP Yoddha’s two-match unbeaten streak came to an end.

Bengal Warriors dominate the first half to take a huge lead

UP Yoddha won the toss and chose the court as Bengal Warriors opened the raiding. Yang Kun Lee opened Bengal’s account with a successful raid, however, UP came back well as the first four points were split equally. However, from there on, UP managed to open a three-point lead at 5-2. And they consolidated their lead as Vinod Kumar managed a super raid before UP inflicted the fastest all out of PKL season 5 on Bengal to extend their lead to 11-2. By the halfway point of the first half came around, Bengal were firing both in attack as well as in defence as they enjoyed a healthy nine-point lead with 5 minutes to go with the score at 15-6. Finally, with just over two minutes to go, Mahinder Singh extended Bengal’s lead to a massive 22-8 after he inflicted the second all-out of the game on UP.

Bengal Warriors thump UP Yoddha

The mammoth 14-point lead that Bengal enjoyed at the end of the first half allowed them to play the second half at their own pace without taking any unnecessary risks. On the other hand, UP adopted an ultra aggressive approach which backfired against them as their raiders handed Bengal easy defence points. With ten minutes to go, Bengal had extended their lead to 30-12 after which it was all about game management for the Mahinder Singh-led side. Some moments later, the Warriors sealed the deal in their favour as they inflicted the third all out of the game on UP to take the score to 34-12. Bengal’s lethal allround defence meant that the remainder of the game was a mere formality and the Warriors simply bided their time as there was no way back for UP and eventually, Bengal managed to secure an easy 40-20 victory in what was the most one-sided game of the season so far.
