Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore to unveil Kabaddi Masters Trophy in Dubai

Union sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore would unveil the trophy for the inaugural six-nation Kabaddi Masters Dubai. India are clubbed with Pakistan with Kenya in group A, while group B features Iran, Republic of Korea, and Argentina with the top two teams slated to make to the semifinals.

The inaugural six-nation Kabaddi Masters in Dubai would get underway with much fanfare as Union sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore would be the chief guest in the opening ceremony and would unveil the Trophy on Friday.

“Col Rathore would also be gracing the tournament as the chief guest,” an official said as quoted by Indian Express on the eve of the meet getting underway at the Al Wasl Sports Club. 

The tournament would be played from June 22 to June 30 and has two groups containing three teams each. The group A has India along with Pakistan and newcomers Kenya while group B has Iran, Republic of Korea, and Argentina. The top two teams from each group would qualify for the semi-finals.

IKF president Janardan Singh Gehlot said they have been looking forward to exploring options for a comprehensive international kabaddi calendar that would be active annually, successfully pinning kabaddi across the world map.

“Kabaddi Masters Dubai 2018 is our first step in that direction and will elevate the stature of our sport considerably. We are thankful to the Dubai Sports Council as well as Star India for their strong rile in making this happen,” Gehlot said.
