Bengal Warriors coach BC Ramesh, while praising his team, said that the defenders played extremely well and the raiders also gave support at crucial points that helped them get to the win. He also talked about the team's consistency and how Maninder Singh and Jeeva Kumar contribute to that.

Bengal Warriors managed to outplay Patna Pirates and helped themselves get to their fifth win of the season. In the first half of the game, both the teams were playing well and were neck to neck as it ended with a score of 15-14 in favour of the Warriors. Following that, Bengal Warriors managed to inflict the first all-out on Patna Pirates within one minute of the second half and followed that up with a second one without letting Patna score a single point.

“It was a good game. The match was tight at the beginning but then our defenders Jeeva Kumar, Rinku Narwal and Baldev Singh performed exceptionally. Maninder Singh also scored for us at vital junctures. It felt good to win by this margin. Patna Pirates played well towards the end by slowing down their defence and playing on the offence. I think we let them get away in the final minutes which we should have controlled,” coach BC Ramesh said in the post-match press conference.

Due to the two successive all-outs, Bengal Warriors were leading by 13 points. The major credit of this goes to the defenders who not only managed to oust Pardeep Narwal but also didn’t give any unnecessary points to their other raiders. In defence, Rinku Narwal scored a high five and was well supported by experienced Jeeva Kumar(3) and Baldev Singh(2), who scored five points collectively. Even though the defence did well, a point of concern that arose was the percent of unsuccessful tackles as each of the defenders only had a fifty percent strike rate.

“These things happen during a match. Sometimes you take some time to get going and then perform better later on. Rinku made some mistakes at the start, but the important thing is that he realised his mistakes and understood how to adapt his game. I told him that the raider will come to you, you don’t have to go to the raider. Rinku has a lot of potential and good game-sense. If he can read the opponents better and improve certain aspects of his game then there are chances of him emerging as this season’s best Left Corner,” coach BC ramesh said while talking about left corner Rinku Narwal.

The raiding unit was led from the front by the skipper Maninder Singh who scored a super 10 in 18 attempts in which he got out only ones. Parpanjan also supported his captain well with six crucial points and their combination worked well together as Patna’s defence only managed to score 6 points.

“Our team captain has been a big factor in our team’s consistency. He remains calm and patient and supports the players quite well. Our senior defender Jeeva Kumar has also been vital. Good leadership is very important if a team is to perform consistently,” coach BC Ramesh signed off.
