According to a Sportstar report, Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive has revealed that he is keen to invest in Pro Kabaddi League in the near future. Ranadive, who was born and brought up in Mumbai, has also mentioned that he is in talks with some of the team owners including Abhishek Bachchan.

Pro Kabaddi League has been a big revelation for kabaddi and since its inception in 2014, the indigenous sport has taken a different turn not only in India but all around the globe. The league, which begun with eight teams in the first season, has now 12 teams competing for the title.

With the growing popularity of the sport, NBA team Sacramento Kings’ owner Vivek Ranadive, who is in India for the NBA India Games 2019, has now expressed his interest in the league.

“I have been talking about possibly investing in a kabaddi team. I played that game growing up, so it’s close to my heart,” Ranadive told Sportstar.

Ranadive, who was born and raised in Mumbai, has also revealed that he has spoken to a few of the owners of the PKL teams including inaugural champions Jaipur Pink Panthers’ owner Abhishek Bachchan. He also said that India is an ‘incredible market’.

“I think India is an incredible market. People forget that for 1,500 of the last 2,000 years, India was the world's largest economy, and thanks to some of the changes now, India is rising again,” Ranadive explained.
