Shooter Jitu Rai bagged a silver medal in the 50m pistol at the ISSF World Cup final in Bologna, Italy, on Thursday. Rai secured a score of 188.8 in the finals to finish behind China's Wei Pang (190.6). Italian Giuseppe Giordano took bronze with a score of 170.3.
Rai’s medal came a day after the Abhinav Bindra-led National Rifle Association of India review committee submitted a damning 36-page report on the Rio Olympics flop show that was equally scathing on the shooters, coaches and the national federation.
World No 7 Rai was among the 12-member squad that failed to secure a medal in Rio where 2008 Beijing gold medallist Bindra’s fourth-place finish in the 10m air rifle was the best show.

Rai equalled his personal best of 568 points to finish second in the qualification round following a strong start that saw him lead after the first four series, as he shrugged off the disappointment of a poor Olympic campaign, PTI news agency reported.
Rai came from behind twice in the final to secure his first medal at a World Cup Final where the world’s top 10 shooters for the season compete.
