The 2020 Shooting World Cup is going to be held in New Delhi, as the opportunity to host the World cup by the International Shooting Sport Federation has been given to India. Indian shooters will have top-class competition plus practice at home before they head to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics.

Indian shooters have already started with their preparations after the announcement of the next Olympics in 2020, with Tokyo as its new venue. The decision of the ISSF shall act as a boon for every Indian shooter as they get top-class competition and practice at the World Cup which shall be held in New Delhi, just a few months before the Olympics in 2020.

The International Shooting Sport Federation’s World cup involves events in rifle, pistol, and shotgun. The assurance was given to the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) president, Raninder Singh, during the ISSF’s ongoing executive committee meeting in Vienna.

“We are extremely grateful to the ISSF president and the entire executive committee for reposing faith in the country’s and NRAI’s ability to hold such big competition’’, said Raninder in a release issued on Saturday.

There are speculations that India is scheduled to host a World Cup next year from February 20 to 28, which will offer Olympic quota places for Tokyo. However, the dates for the World Cup in India in 2020 will be finalized soon, as the ISSF has only put the dates for the Olympic Games as well as the World Cup in Tokyo, a test event for the Olympics, for 2020.
