Shooting Nationals | Mehuli Ghosh secures four golds while Anjum Moudgil takes women’s 10m air rifle top honours

CWG medalist Anjum Moudgil has been on a very good run of form lately and now won the women’s 10m air rifle competition at the shooting nationals to secure her second medal. On the other hand, Bengal’s Mehuli Ghosh claimed four gold medals in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.

After defending her women’s 50m rifle 3 positions title, Moudgil secured another top podium finish at the 62nd National Shooting Championship Competitions in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. She shot 249.1 to take the yellow metal with her state Punjab’s Jasmine Kaur coming second with a score of 247.9. C Kavi Rakshana of Tamil Nadu won the bronze with an effort of 226.0 in the eight-woman final.

However, the biggest performer of the day was Bengal’s Mehuli Ghosh, who won four gold medals, including the junior and youth women’s 10m air rifle individual and team event. She shot 253 in the youth final and 249.1 in the junior final respectively to emerge victorious in the tournament.

While the duo stole the show, Apurvi Chandela could only make it to the air rifle finals but ended up at the fourth position and missed out on an individual medal. However, she was successful in leading ONGC to team event Gold partnering Shriyanka Sadangi and Gayatri Pawaskar. ONGC secured a total of 1868.5 points to leave behind Rajasthan who had managed to secure 1865.

Maharashtra’s Bhakti Bhaskar Khamkar, won the junior women’s 50m rifle 3 positions gold with a final round tally of 441.6, edged out West Bengal’s Ayushi Poddar who shot 440.4.
