ISSF World Cup | Ganemat Sekhon starts well for India

Ganemat Sekhon was the best placed among her country mates at the seventh place with a score of 72 out of 75 in the qualification round of the ongoing ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Changwon. Among other Indians, Maheshwari Chauhan and Rashmi Rathore were lying at 35th and 49th positions respectively.

On the opening day of the Shotgun World Cup in Korea, Ganemat Sekhon scored 24, 25 and 23 in the women's skeet qualification to be at the best place among all the Indian shooters in the event. Sekhon was at the seventh position in a field of 56 shooters on the first day of the global event as she scored 72 out of 75.

Italy’s Diana Bacosi was the leader on the table with a total shot of 74 out of 75 while there were two shooters who scored 73. The Indian shooter was tied with three others including USA’s Kimberly Rhode who had won World Cup and the Olympics gold.

India’s national champion Maheshwari Chauhan could manage only 66 with three poor rounds with shots of 22, 21 and 23. She was at the 35th place on the table while former national champion Rashmi Rathore occupied the 49th position with a terrible total score of 62. Rathore shot 21, 23 and 18 in her three rounds.

Two more rounds will be held today in the qualifications before the final for the top six. Rhode and Dankar Bartekova of Slovakia are having the Olympic quota among the top 15 shooters.
