India's junior shotgun squad picked up four medals – two individual bronze and a silver each in the men’s and women’s team events at the Ninth Asian Shotgun Championship at Almaty in Kazakhstan. The individual medals came courtesy of Abhay Singh and Parinaaz Dhaliwal in the junior skeet competition.

Abhay won the bronze medal in the junior men’s skeet competition on Tuesday after having reached the final shooting 114 during the qualification round. Earlier in the week, on Monday, Parinaaz shot 39 in the final to finish behind the Chinese duo of Yashu Sun and Yikai Li who won the gold and silver medals respectively in the women’s skeet event. Meanwhile, India’s other participant in the event Asees Chhina finished fourth and missed out on a medal.

India also added two silver medals to their kitty in the men’s and women’s team events. Besides Abhay, the silver winning men’s team consisted of 18-year-old Ayush Rudraraju from Hyderabad and the Punjab-born Gurnihal Singh Garcha. The women’s trio including Parinaaz and Asees is completed by Khelo India Youth Games champion Darshna Rathore.

Meanwhile, China enjoyed a clean sweep in the senior events, striking gold in all four senior skeet competitions at the continental event.
