Indian golfers Ajeetesh Sandhu and Rashid Khan have ended their Bangabandhu Cup Golf Open in Dhaka, Bangladesh, at the second and third position respectively. Sandhu said after the match that he made just one mistake but was happy with the way he played in the last week in Bangladesh.

The dream of Indian golfers to finish at the first and second position in the Bangabandhu Cup didnā€™t fall in place as Thailandā€™s Sadom Kaewkanjana overtook Sandhu and Rashid on Saturday. Both Sandhu and Rashid had to finish at the next two places at second and third respectively as both of them dropped a crucial bogey each.

Among the other golfers from India, Karandeep Kochhar (70) finished T-12th, Veer Ahlawat (67) and Udayan Madane (70) both were T-25th while Honey Baisoya (69), Viraj Madappa (77) and Abhijit Chadha (67) were T-35th.

With rounds of 74-67-71-71, veteran golfer Jeev Milkha Singh remained T-41st after coming back from injury. Two other golfers from the country Aman Raj (67) and Akshay Sharma (75) were T-48th and T-61st respectively.

ā€œI knew what I had to do when I started out. I actually did what I needed to so I am quite happy with that. I just made a mistake on one hole. I havenā€™t made any bogey in three and a half days. Itā€™s not that I played the hole bad. I just missed out on the putt,ā€ Sandhu said after the final round, reported Scroll.in.

ā€œItā€™s been a great week, considering how I started the week with three bogeys in my opening eight holes. If someone had told me I would finish second at the start of the week, I would have taken that.ā€

ā€œI hit a few good shots but couldnā€™t hole the putts. I expected it to be better but itā€™s fine. I just made some mistakes out there but otherwise, I am happy,ā€ said Rashid.
