Indian youngster Jeremy Lalrinnunga had also set 15 new records and finished second in his earlier in his group at the Championships.

At this continental event, the medals are awarded separately in snatch, clean and jerk, and total lift categories. However, in the Olympics, only one medal is awarded and that is for total lift.
