Advisory Committee appointed for ‘Fit India’ movement

A committee has been formed to help guide initiatives to be undertaken in the ‘Fit India’ movement and comprises of individuals from various sporting federations and the IOA. The Prime Minister will launch his latest initiative on August 29 with an aim to promote sports and healthy living.

The ‘Fit India’ campaign is all set to be inaugurated on the 29th of August by the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi and an advisory panel has been formed to help the government fulfil the goals of the campaign.

The committee comprises of members from the various National Sports Federations such as the All India Football Federation, Athletics Federation of India, Cycling Federation of India and other similar institutes. Individuals belonging to the Indian Olympic Association and the Sports Authority of India will also form a part of the same.

Representatives of the government and private institutions such as  Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Reliance Foundation, JSW Cement and JSW Paints, SE TransStadia Pvt. Ltd., Tata Trusts, ASSOCHAM India, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), along with some renowned household names associated with fitness like Shilpa Shetty and Milind Soman round off the list of members.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports released a statement explaining that the goal of the movement is to integrate sports and other forms of physical activities into the regular lives of the country’s citizens to improve their physical and mental state of health, reported TOI.
