VIDEO | Ravichandran Ashwin embarrasses himself while trying to play reverse-sweep off a full toss

Deft touches, dabs, sweeps and reverse-sweeps have always been a part of Ravichandran Ashwin's batting armory. But during Nottinghamshire's encounter against Somerset, Ashwin missed a revere-sweep off a full toss from Dom Bess, and stood there in embarrassment as the ball crashed on to the stumps.

With four test hundreds to his name to go with 342 wickets, Ashwin has built up the reputation of being a valuable all-rounder in the longer format, and has enjoyed his time in England, having already had a stint with Worcestershire in 2018 County Championship.

Having signed up to play for Nottinghamshire in the 2019 County Championship, Ravi Ashwin has been in fine form with both at and ball, having picked 11 wickets in two matches, and also having resgistered two 35+ scores in four innings, batting as high as number four for his team.

Batting in the first innings at number six on Tuesday, Ashwin had steadied his way to 23, having struck four boundaries en route to it. But on the fifth ball of the 83rd over, despite the off-spinner Dominic Bess bowling a juicy full toss, Ashwin premeditated a reverse-sweep - a shot he likes to use often to milk the spinners, completely missing the ball in the process.

As the ball went past Ashwin's bat, it crashed into middle-stump, and all Ashwin could do was stand there in disappointment, realizing what he had just done.
