Injury ends Saurav Ghosal’s run at British Open Squash

India’s campaign at the 2016 Allam British Open came to a premature end on Thursday after an injury forced Saurav Ghosal to concede his second round match against 11th ranked Marwan Elshorbagy at the Airco Arena. Ghosal had stunned World No. 10 Mathieu Castagnet in the opening round on Thursday.
The World No.19, who looked in great flow in the opening match against Castagnet on Tuesday, went into the match against Marwan Elshorbagy suffering from a twisted ankle that he injured during the first round clash.
The 29-year old, who returned to the PSA world tour back in February after a stress fracture, showed fighting spirit to last two rounds against the Egyptian. After conceding the first two rounds 6-11, 6-11, the Indian decided to throw in the towel conceding the match to the World No.11.

“I feel very sad for him.
“He’s a great friend of mine. I’m sure he can come back very strong because he’s a very gifted player,” Elshorbagy told psaworldtour.com.Â
