After trailing 0-2, Arun Sharma fought back against Maharashtra statemate Tejas Sathare to register a 9-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-3, 11-3 victory. Meanwhile, Mehul Kumar made his way to an identical win despite a challenge from Miheer Prakash for an 11-9, 4-11, 3-11, 11-3, 11-4 triumph.

Young Indian player Arun Sharma had to fight back from initial setback to ultimately defeat his Maharashtra neighbour Tejas Sathare over the course of five games and enter the men’s pre-quarterfinals of the GSC-All India Squash Open on Monday.

After trailing by 0-2 in the start, Sharma carved out an impressive 9-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-3, 11-3 victory to enter the last 16 at the suburban Goregaon Sports Club in Mumbai.

In a similar fashion, Services' Mehul Kumar fought back from 1-2 to ward off a tough challenge from Miheer Prakash of Maharashtra with an 11-9, 4-11, 3-11, 11-3, 11-4 win and progressed to the prequarter-finals.

In contrast, the top two seeds, Abhishek Pradhan and Abhishek Agarwal comfortably outplayed their respective rivals in straight games to advance into the pre-quarters without much fuss.

In the boys' under-17 category, Abhishek Kumar from Chandigarh and Mohit Bhatt from Maharashtra stormed into the quarterfinals with straight-game results.
