Senior National Squash Championship | Mahesh Mangaonkar, Joshna Chinappa get top seeds

Maharashtra’s Mahesh Mangaonkar and Tamil Nadu’s Joshna Chinappa have been given the top seeds in the men’s and women’s categories respectively at the 76th Senior National Squash Championship. The National Championship will be played from Thursday in Pune with some top players taking the court.

With the National Squash Championship starting from today, the top-ranked squash players of the country Mahesh Mangaonkar and Joshna Chinappa have been kept in the top seeds in men’s and the women’s categories respectively. The second and third seed players in the men’s category are also from the host state after Mangaonkar. Abhishek Pradhan is seeded second while Abhishek Agarwal is at the third seed followed by Vijay Kumar in the fourth spot.

In the women’s event, below Chinappa, Maharashtra’s Urvashi Joshi is seeded second and Tamil Nadu’s Sunayna Kuruvilla has been kept at the third spot. In the qualifying rounds ahead of the start of the National Championship, 11-year-old Aelina Shah defeated Nikita Agarwal 13-11, 11-8, 11-5. Among the men, Guhan Senthilkumar, Aishwary Singh, Veer Chotrani and Ravi Dixit made their way into the main draw of the competition.
